Two cars enter, one car leaves. Nice and simple....Actually it's not because most of us won't drive either so we can only go off of the ads BUT we can still be armchair car buyers. So which one would be the better buy?
In the first corner, we have a 500$ 1980 example. Looks a bit worn but the seller wants a quick sale.

In the second, we have a 1983 example (near my house even!) that seems to be in better shape, but is going for 2200$.

So, pay the extra for the one that might be in better shape? Or get the cheaper one and put the $ towards repairs? Both have floorboard rot so neither is 100% road ready.

Pay the extra, it looks pretty clean to me. And if it's near you, you can check it out to verify that.

Check the E21 model history to see if the later car had mechanical improvements. That would put points in its corner too.
Or keep hunting and see if you can find an ultra rare 320is

I used to autocross with a guy who had a 320is. He had done some serious work to it too.....And it was consistently slower than my 1997 monte carlo LS with little more than a more open exhaust and intake.

Your 97 Monte Carlo was probably faster than a 1981 Ferrari 308 too :)

Well the 308 would have an engine meltdown but it would still get you laid when billowing out steam. I'd rather be sitting in a broken down 308 than a working 97 monte carlo.

LOL. The 308 would be especially perfect to take to a mustache party. I've been to one before that was fun, but it would have been more fun if I rocked up in a 308.
